The aim of this article is to study an Arabic Manuscript (letter) concerning the issue of "Sadl (Laying the Hands Straight) in the Obligatory Prayer pertaining to the Maliki Madhhab comparing betweenMachhor and Ma Jara bih 'Amal. The author of this manuscript is Abdullah bin Jahra Al-Salawi (1324). In his introduction, the author shows the position of Imam Malik and his role in Maliki School. He is also talks about the rule of ‘amal of ahl al-Madina explaining its importance and strength among other rules of Imam Malik. He shows many sayings of Imam Malik and Maliki scholars which describe the role of 'amal ahl Madina. Then, after this introduction, the author examines the main point of this manuscript that is debates and disagreements (ikhtilaf) between Maliki jurists about Sadl in prayer. To discuss this point, he starts from a text in the main book of Malikis (al-Mudwana), and then he reports many issues which are similar to the main point. He also reports many sayings of Islamic scholars either from Maliki School or outside of school showing the strength of debates about the issue. Finally, This Manuscript ends with two answers to Shaykh 'ulish from his books: "Fath al-'Uli, al Malik in the fatwa on the doctrine of Imam Malik" and "Minah al Jalil, Sharh Mukhtāsr Khalil" to support the main point of this letter that is that Imam Malik and many 'ulama were known to have preferred sadl.
